The FEO Project is a women-led sailing expedition to find environmental optimism in island communities across the world’s oceans.

We have the science on climate change, but it’s stories that we need. Stories based in hope, care, and commitment, with the power to inspire climate action. The FEO Project is implementing optimistic storytelling to motivate change and support climate solutions.
Our plan
From Nsakek Deer Isle, Maine to Aotearoa New Zealand, we’re sailing in search of island-based climate resilience innovations. We’re highlighting voices & visions from the frontlines of the climate crisis, emphasizing the unique perspectives and valuable innovations that exist in climate vulnerable communities. We plan to contribute creative and financial resources to the organizations we get to know. Along the way, we’re experimenting with low-carbon living and sharing lessons learned from land & sea.
Connect with island communities and environmental innovators working at a variety of scales to cultivate a sense of optimism
Share stories and insights from the people & places we encounter to fundraise micro-grants that support their projects
Workshop environmental communication & sustainable living methods to find what’s most effective for inspiring climate action
Build a community of optimists that supports, sustains, and expands on this work
